We all come in different shapes and sizes. That diversity should be celebrated, but we live in a culture that shames people for being too fat, too thin, too round, too ______. This stigma creates untold emotional pain from bullying and internalized shame.
Body positive therapy provides a place to:
- Explore and change any self limiting beliefs you might have taken on through interactions with family, friends, and the culture at large.
- Learn and practice unconditional self love.
- Learn to set limits with people who judge - even/especially those who don't mean to be rude.
- Explore what health means for you in the body you have right now (including the right not to pursue health-related goals).
Body positive therapy is also a place where you never have to talk about weight at all - that's your choice to make. Because your emotional health and happiness may have nothing to do with a number on a scale.
