My Approach to Midlife Therapy and Coaching
My strength is teaching and mentoring people who want to create purpose, meaning, joy, and ease in midlife and beyond.
I am a therapist/coach who talks. I will share anecdotes, resources, and ideas to help you deepen your self-understanding and self-compassion as well as take practical steps toward more ease, joy, and grace as you face the changes inherent in your midlife and elder years.
With me, there is space to grieve and space to laugh - sometimes within the same moment. I will teach you to listen deeply to all of your feelings and needs, so you can respond to your mind and your body with care, respect, and tenderness.
I believe in flexibility. We might shift between therapeutic work - feeling and expressing emotions to deepen self awareness - and coaching - getting into the nuts and bolts of building the life you want to lead. I am also flexible with time. You might want to start out with sessions every other week, then downshift to monthly or as-needed sessions once you feel a sense of direction and skill in working on your own.
You may want to do a standard 50-minute session, or you might prefer longer or shorter sessions. I will do my best to accommodate the right amount of time for you to do meaningful, productive work.
My Credentials
I have an MA in Counseling Psychology, and I've been licensed in California since 2004. I attended JFK University in Orinda, CA, and did my undergrad work in Los Angeles, at UCLA. I have additional training and experience in:
- Coaching
- Hypnotherapy
- EMDR
- Cognitive-Behavioral therapy
- Somatic therapy
- Mindfulness based therapy
- Psychobiology of Attachment
- Inner Child/Inner Parent work
More important than these credentials, I've walked the talk. Heading into my sixth decade of life, I know what it's like to move through loss and change and emerge feeling renewed and content in my un-airbrushed skin.
