Fees & Logistics

What to expect, practically

Getting started

To begin, schedule a telehealth consultation. My practice management software will show you my calendar, send you a reminder, and provide a link to my secure video chat.

I always offer the first 30 minutes for free to see if the fit feels right and give you a sense of what therapy is like with me. If you are benefitting from the session and want to extend it to 50 minutes, I can prorate the extra time we use.

In that first session, you will have a chance to tell me what you'd like to work on, experience some guidance in self-nurturing, and ask any questions. If working together feels right to both of us, we can schedule ongoing sessions.

Session fees/Good faith estimate

Individual therapy is $265 for 50 minutes (2026 rate). Longer sessions — up to 80 minutes, including EMDR — are available and prorated accordingly. I reserve two sliding scale openings (down to $185) based on income. Fees increase annually, and I send out a notice of fee changes each November.

Insurance & superbills

I'm an out-of-network provider. If you have PPO insurance, they may reimburse a percentage of your sessions — I'm happy to provide a monthly superbill, just let me know during your first session.

Payment

My scheduling software is connected to Stripe for easy, secure payment processing.

Session frequency

I work every other week, so it's important that you're not in active crisis and this level of support feels like enough. We can discuss this in your consultation session. Often clients move to monthly sessions when they move into the last stage of therapy, learning to cherish themselves. And, once therapy ends, clients are welcome to schedule as-needed sessions for those times when life gets hard.

Telehealth logistics

Most sessions are conducted via secure, HIPAA-compliant video — you'll receive a link before each appointment. Phone sessions are also available if you prefer.

In-office sessions are available on an as-needed basis and for specialty work like EMDR, at my Pleasant Hill office.

State of Licensure

California.

Cancellation & rescheduling

Life happens. You get sick. Kids have emergencies. I get it.

  • Illness or emergency: call or email within 30 minutes of your appointment. We can do a phone session if you feel up to it, or reschedule if I have availability.
  • Three fee-free cancellations per calendar year, no questions asked. After that, additional absences are charged at the full session fee unless we're able to reschedule.
  • Planned absences: please give at least one week's notice so I can offer your time to someone else.
  • Late cancellations (less than 30 minutes' notice) are charged for the missed session.

My end of the deal: if I'm sick, I'll contact you as soon as possible to cancel and reschedule. When I take vacation, I'll give you at least two weeks' notice.

Confidentiality

Your personal health information is held in strict confidentiality, following HIPAA regulations and California state law. Further details are in my onboarding forms.

Ending therapy

There's no set time limit. It's time to end when you feel your goals have been met and you have the tools you need. Ideally, we'll have as many sessions as you need to talk about ending, review your successes, and plan for what's ahead.

As an attachment therapist, I don't see termination as a final ending. If you want to keep me posted on your life, I welcome your emails — and if you need a tune-up now and then, I'm happy to see you.
